best back protector
This is the best back protector that I have ever owned that goes inside a jacket. The price is affordable, it is slim, it vents well, and it is also very flexible depending on your body position on the bike. I am comparing this to the Dainese wave g2 back protector in my other jackets which I had to use because no other back protector would fit in specific dainese jackets. Otherwise I would use this back protector in all my jackets.

    • Is this the accessory for the Alpinestar Tornado Air Jacket?
    • Hey Andi,

This back protector is universal to all or most Alpinestars jackets. You wouldn't have any issues fitting this into your jacket, but remember to pick size accordingly.

    • Hi,

What id the difference between the KR-1I and the KR-2l?

      Thank you,
    • Mainly, the KR-1i is a racetrack-oriented back pad with a hard-plastic shell that will aid in sliding at high speeds, which is one of the most-common crashing scenarios on the track.

Both back protectors (KR-1i and KR-2i) are made of the same polyurethane foam that adapts and contours nicely across the back. They're both CE-certified as Level 2 in the 1621-2 standard. The KR-2i back protector does not have a sliding plastic; that's where the only difference resides versus the KR-1i.

In essence, think of the Alpinestars Nucleon KR-1i as a back protector for racing on the track and think of the Alpinestars Nucleon KR-2i as a back protector for street use. However, you can absolutely use the KR-1i for street use and the KR-2i on the track too.

Lastly, the Nucleon KR 1i and the Nucleon KR 2i share the same dimensions in all their given sizes (both protectors come in sizes Small, Medium and Large).
